One dead, four injured in head-on crash in Jessamine County

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – An Asbury Theological Seminary student was killed and four other people injured in a head-on crash Saturday morning in Jessamine County, according to the sheriff’s office and county coroner.

Deputies say a pickup truck and small SUV collided on KY 169 near the Jessamine and Woodford County line around 10:30 a.m.

The person who was killed was one of the drivers, identified by the coroner as 28-year old Aaron Nickerson, of Williamsburg, Virginia.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other Asbury Theological Seminary students were injured and taken to U.K. Hospital in Lexington.  They were identified by the seminary as Uma John and Anastasia Marcum.  The other two people injured were not immediately identified.

A prayer vigil was held for the victims at the seminary in Fletcher Chapel from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A second prayer vigil was scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Estes Chapel, according to the seminary.

All of the area roads have reopened after being closed while the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office’s Accident Reconstruction Unit investigated.

This is the second car accident fatality worked by the sheriff’s office in 2019.
