One dead after collision in Somerset

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – Somerset police are investigating a collision in Somerset that took the life of one person.

Officers say they were called to a wreck on West KY 80 east of Hacker Road just after 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning.  According to investigators, a 1993 Nissan pickup collided head-on with a Chrysler van in the westbound lane of KY 80.  The pickup had been traveling eastbound towards Somerset, and the van was headed west.

The driver of the pickup, 35-year-old Benjamin Foster, was airlifted from the scene to U.K. hospital.  His passenger, 29-year-old Stephanie Roach and the driver of the van, 47-year-old Donna Butt were treated at the scene and then taken to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.  Roach was later pronounced dead by the Pulaski Co. Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by the Somerset Police Department.
