Olive Hill police get grant for weapons, stun guns

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (AP) — The city of Olive Hill in eastern Kentucky has received a $13,500 grant to purchase duty weapons and stun guns.

The Independent reported (http://bit.ly/1yFRdTO) that the money came from the Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security.

The two agencies use income from sales of confiscated weapons to federally licensed firearms dealers to generate money for the initiative.

Homeland Security then provides available funds for the acquisition of body armor, duty weapons, ammunition and electronic or muscular disruption technical devices.
