Ohio man sentenced to 20 years in jail

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- An Ohio man is sentenced to twenty years behind bars for firearm offenses.

37 year-old Bryant Lamar Monie of Dayton, Ohio was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for being an armed career criminal as well as possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug offense.

Monie moved to Mt. Sterling in 2015 and began selling cocaine in the area.

Police executed a search warrant for Monie’s residence and seized a loaded pistol and a distribution quantity of cocaine.

Monie had four prior felonies to these new charges.

In April 2016, following a jury trial, Monie was convicted.

Monie is required to serve eighty-five percent of his sentence, then upon release he will be on probation.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF and Mt. Sterling Police Department.

Assistant U. S. Attorney Roger West represented the United States during the case.
