Ohio man killed in Morgan County truck crash

WRIGLEY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 49-year-old Ohio man was killed Monday morning in a truck crash in Morgan County not far from the Elliott County line.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Daniel M. Hofeister, of South Point, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which was reported at about 9:30 a.m. on KY 7 in the Wrigley community north of West Liberty about five miles from Elliott County.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officer Jamie Fields responded to the crash and found Hofeister was driving a 2005 GMC box truck southbound when the truck left the road and overturned, the KSP said in a statement.

Hofeister was wearing a seat belt and drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors ain the accident, troopers said.

Traffic was stopped for nearly two hours for emergency crews to investigate the crash.

Assisting on scene were CVE Officers, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Wrigley EMS, West Liberty Fire Department, and the Morgan County Coroner’s office. CVE Officer Jamie Fields continues the investigation.
