Officials Urge Energy Conservation During Bitter Cold
They said since weather (not price) is the main factor in energy use, the best thing for consumers to do is to reduce consumption.
This can be as easy as turning the thermostat down by a few degrees or limiting the temperature on your water heater.
The PSC also said sealing leaks around windows, doors and other openings can keep cold air out and warm air in, cutting costs even further.
Anyone who may need additional assistance meeting their heating bills could qualify for extra help from local community action agencies and from utility companies. However, funds are limited and can sometimes run out during this time of year.
