UPDATE: Officials investigating deadly house fire in Franklin County that killed two teens

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — UPDATE 05/01 12:27 p.m.:

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that two people died in a house fire in Franklin County overnight on Wednesday.

However, the identities of the victims have not been released.

The coroner says although the believe they know the identities, they will rely on ‘scientific facts’  to confirm identities, age and gender.

The coroner says final autopsy results will be available in 16 to 20 weeks.

Authorities in Franklin County are investigating a deadly house fire that claimed the lives of two teenage boys early Wednesday morning.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded to the scene around 12:45 a.m. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The case is now being treated as a death investigation. The Kentucky State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting with the case.

Autopsies for both victims are scheduled for Thursday morning. Officials say they hope to provide additional details during a press conference planned for Thursday afternoon.
