Officers taking stolen car report when it is involved in crash
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – One man fled on foot and another was arrested following an crash in a stolen car Wednesday morning.
According to Lexington Police, officers received a call at about 7:30 a.m. of a car smashing into a tree near the intersection of Bryan Station and Muir Station roads not far from Paris Pike.
When officers arrived, one man was with the car and another had fled, police said. The man who remained with the car was wanted on car theft warrants, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
As it turned out, the Lincoln Nautilus SUV in which the men were riding was reported stolen from not far away on Cleveland Road, police said. Officers were at that scene taking the theft report when the accident was reported, police said.
Officers scoured the area, including using the department’s helicopter, looking for the other person in the vehicle. And despite several reports of him possibly being scene, he had not been located as of 11:30 a.m.
