October kicks off Roadside PRIDE fall cleanup campaign

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – The cooler weather outside maker for a perfect opportunity to get out of the house and participate in southern and eastern Kentucky’s fall cleanup campaign, Roadside PRIDE.

“After a hot summer, it’s a great time to get outside and work to improve our environment,” said Tammie Wilson of PRIDE, the nonprofit organization that organizes volunteer cleanup events across the 42-county region. “If we take time to clean up our communities now, we create a welcoming scene for all the visitors coming to the area to experience the wonderful fall colors and other natural beauty our region has to offer.”

The Roadside PRIDE campaign encourages volunteers to pick up litter near their home, church, school, business or favorite spot this fall. PRIDE provides trash bags and gloves to volunteers who pick up litter and dispose of it with their own trash. For supplies, please call the PRIDE office toll free at 888-577-4339.

Volunteers may contact their local PRIDE Coordinator after they pick up litter and dispose of it with their trash. The coordinator will add the volunteer hours to the city or county’s Roadside PRIDE tally. PRIDE will recognize the region’s cities and counties with the most Roadside PRIDE volunteers.
