October begins warm and dry across central Kentucky

Warm, dry weather holds through the weekend before changes arrive

Sunshine Stays in Control

The first day of October picked up right where September left off—warm, dry, and full of sunshine. Afternoon highs climbed into the mid-80s once again, running about 10 degrees above average for this time of year. Tonight, we’ll stay mostly clear with calm to light winds and lows dipping back into the mid-50s, making for another cool but comfortable evening.

A Familiar Pattern Through the Weekend

This stretch of sunshine isn’t going anywhere just yet. High pressure to our northeast continues to dominate, keeping skies clear and rain chances out of the forecast through the weekend. Expect highs in the low to mid-80s each afternoon with lows in the mid- to upper 50s at night. That’s well above normal for early October, but the low humidity will help keep conditions feeling pleasant.

Looking Ahead: Rain Chances Next Week

While the next several days will stay warm and dry, changes are on the horizon as we move into early next week. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will begin to creep northward, and a weak upper-level disturbance could help trigger a few isolated showers by Monday or Tuesday, especially across southeastern Kentucky. Widespread rain is not a guarantee yet, but confidence is growing that we could see at least some wet weather early in the week.

Temperatures Stay Above Normal

Even with the chance of showers returning, temperatures will stay above normal through the weekend and into early next week. Highs will remain in the low to mid-80s before a cold front expected by midweek finally brings a bit of a cool down. By the middle of next week, highs could dip back into the mid- to upper 70s, which is much closer to average for this time of year.
