NWS to survey storm damage in Frenchburg

FRENCHBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Storms knocked out electricity, downed trees and closed roads Thursday night in Frenchburg in Menifee County, according to emergency officials.

Kentucky 36 was closed for a time during the evening due to downed trees.  One lane opened before 11:00 p.m.

A storm damage survey team from the National Weather Service is scheduled to be in Frenchburg at 10:30 a.m. Friday to assess the damage and determine its cause.

An online utility outage map showed 31-percent of the customers in Menifee County were without electricity after the storms moved through.

No injuries were immediately reported.

Storm damage was reported in several counties Thursday evening, including Laurel, where more than 3,100 utility customers were without power, according to an online outage map.  Numerous trees were reported down across the county.
