Number of new Fayette COVID cases may suggest stabilization
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Another day of relatively low new coronavirus case numbers may mean Fayette County can start saying the virus has at least stabilized in the community.
But other factors, such as people getting vaccinated and weather, may be contributing to the lower numbers, that are mirroring what the rest of the state is seeing.
With 1495 new cases reported Friday, the city has had 30,241 total cases since the outbreak began in March, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Saturday.
Another death brought to 206 the number of people lost to COVID-related causes.
The monthly totals of COVID-19 cases during the outbreak are:

- 507, May
- 793, June
- 1,702, July
- 2,538, August
- 2,804, September
- 2,736, October
- 6,070, November
- 5,991, December
- 6,155, January
