LOUSIVILLE, Ky. (ABC) – The National Rifle Association plans to endorse Trump at its convention today, sources told ABC News.
News of the endorsement comes shortly before Trump addresses group members at their convention in Kentucky.
Trump, who is a gun owner himself, has spoken regularly about his support of the Second Amendment.
He has also pledged to get rid of “gun-free zones” at schools and military bases.
“My first day, it gets signed, OK? My first day. There’s no more gun-free zones,” he said in January.
Trump has cited gun control as being partly to blame for recent mass shootings like those in Paris and San Bernardino, California, arguing that the attackers could have been stopped sooner if more bystanders had been armed.
