Not guilty pleas from suspects accused in death of Officer Daniel Ellis

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The four suspects accused inthe death of Richmond police officer Daniel Ellis appeared in a Madison Co. courtroom today.

Raleigh Sizemore, Gregory Ratliff, Rita Creech, and Carl Banks pleaded not guilty to all charges in the case.

The state is pursuing the death penalty against both Sizemore and Ratliff.  Sizemore is accused of actually firing the shot that killed officer Ellis.  Ratliff is charged with complicity to commit capital murder, among other charges.

Creech and Banks are charged in the robbery Officer Ellis was investigating when he was fatally wounded.  They are being held on $10,000 and $100,000 dollar bonds, respectively.

All four of the suspects are due back in court for a status hearing on February 26th.
