No classes at Johnson County schools today following threat

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Johnson County School District is closed Thursday, Feb. 14 over reports of threats made earlier in the week.

Superintendent Thom Cochran sent out a letter early Thursday saying in part, “After a long night of reflection, reviewing information, and listening to the reports of parents and students, I made the decision to cancel school today.”

Cochran said they received numerous social media posts of concerns since the initial report about graffiti posted on a restroom stall.

Originally, school officials stated students would have school Thursday.

The letter also states there was no credibility to the threats but law enforcement would continue to investigate.

Classes are scheduled to resume Friday, Feb. 15 at all schools in Johnson County with an increased presence of law enforcement.
