Nicholasville restaurant holds fundraiser for Mackey family

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Raising Cane’s in Nicholasville is holding a fundraiser Monday to raise money for the Mackey family.

Paramedic John Mackey died November 10, after being hit by a car while checking some minor damage on his ambulance.

The manager of Raising Cane’s in Nicholasville says Mackey was a regular so when the manager heard one of his customers was hurt, he wanted to do anything he could to help.

“He helped people on a day-to-day basis and a lot of his job probably went un-thanked so that’s something we definitely want to try to do,” said Brian Murrell, general manager of Raising Cane’s.

Monday, November 16th the restaurant is donating 15% of all sales to the Mackey family.  The fundraiser will last the entire day.  The restaurant is located at 551 Keene Centre Drive.
