Nicholasville Business Presented Governor’s Safety And Health Award
The Kentucky Labor Cabinet on Wednesday presented the Governor’s Safety and Health Award to Sargent & Greenleaf of Nicholasville, a plant that manufactures medium and high security locks.
The award is given to employers and employees who together have achieved a specified streak of hours worked without a recordable injury or illness.
The award also encourages the development of programs designed to reduce and even eliminate occupational injuries and illnesses.
Employees of Sargent & Greenleaf have worked 554,258 hours without a “lost-time” injury or illness.
Kentucky Labor Cabinet Secretary Larry Roberts presented the award to company officials and employees during a ceremony. “The facility’s priority on safety, as exhibited by a 76 percent increase in the reporting of near-miss incidents, has allowed this company to make corrections before a more serious incident can occur. In addition, attendance at month safety meetings is on the increase.
“The Labor Cabinet commends the company and its employees for their proactive approach to safety,” said Roberts.
Sargent & Greenleaf employs 121 workers. The company is a global leader in the manufacture of medium and high security locks and locking systems for safes and vaults.
