New video shows UK quarterback punched by EKU player

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- It happened quickly. The doors leading into Telford Hall opened. That’s when EKU football player, Patrick Graffree walked in, immediately took his shirt off and approached UK quarterback Drew Barker.

The punch was swift and the effect was immediate. Barker hit the floor quickly. Soon after, Graffree was gone and out of the range of the security camera.

Barker, slow to recover got little help from those around him as he rose, only to stumble around after the blow to the head.

The video, preceded by that of the fight at Jerzee’s has elicited a response from newly appointed EKU athletic director Steve Lochmueller.

In a statement, Lochmueller says, among other things, “given the actions of these student-athletes, these players have been suspended from the EKU football roster. Their future at the University will be determined pending the decision by personnel within our office of student rights and responsibilities. This type of behavior will not be tolerated.”

UK says it is handling the matters internally. Head Coach Mark stoops briefly responded when asked about the situation during a Wednesday press conference.

"I’ve addressed it with the players and with the team and we’ve moved on,” said the coach.
