New signs highlight fitness, Lexington sights

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 42 new pedestrian signs were installed in downtown Lexington by a project called Walk [Lexington].

The signs direct walkers, bicyclists, and joggers to various downtown landmarks and attractions in units of minutes instead of miles.  The project was supported with funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

"Walking is a great way to get where you need to go while enjoying some exercise and discovering interesting shops or attractions along the way," said Lexington Mayor Jim Gray of the project.  "The Walk [Lexington] project is a citizen-driven project with the potential to expand to other neighborhoods and encourage more walking throughout the city."
