New sign honoring African-American Heritage Trail unveiled
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The city of Lexington unveiled the first sign for the African-American Heritage Trail.
It is the first of twelve interpretive signs donated by Together Lexington.
The community partnership invested $75,000 to create the signs.
The signs, located mainly in downtown, are designed to help residents and visitors discover Lexington’s African-American history through a self-guided tour.
The idea for the interpretive signs came after a series of community forums held in 2017 that tackled issues such as race.
