New Sidewalks Up In Tates Creek Road Area

It’s been 13 year but now walkers, runners and joggers in the Tates Creek Road area can be a little safer.

Vice Mayor Linda Gorton and Urban County Council members laced up their sneakers and took a walk to celebrate newly finished sidewalks.

The $1.7 million project was first brought up in 2001 but lacked necessary community support.  The idea was reintroduced in 2008.

"And for the first time, there are sidewalks all the way into Chevy Chase from Landsdowne Shops from New Circle Road.  And people have never had that before.  People have had to walk in the grass on Tates Creek Road.  And so we are thrilled to have these sidewalks that connect all the neighborhoods," said Gorton.

Gorton encouraged everyone to check out the sidewalks.
