New shelter opens in Georgetown
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Women and children in need of help in Scott County now have a brand new place to stay and get warm as temperatures continue to stay below freezing.
The new Gathering Place Mission women’s shelter off North Water Street officially opened Wednesday.
The shelter can house up to 16 women and children and is the first emergency shelter of its kind in Scott County.
Volunteers say that combined with this bone-chilling cold will have the shelter filling up quickly.
