New details in shooting that critically injured 9 year-old boy
According to court documents, on the day of the shooting the boys mom, Tara Murilla, asked Contreras to move his car which was parked near a dumpster where she worked. Murillo told police there weren’t any other problems after that. A witness saw Contreras’ car following Murillo as she drove towards New Circle on Russell Cave Road, according to the documents.
That’s when police believe Contreras fired several shots into Murillo’s black SUV, one of them hitting the nine year-old boy who was in the back seat.
According to documents, Contreras said it was his car seen on surveillance video but he denied driving it during the shooting.
He was later picked out of a photo line up by Murillo and police report finding evidence of the shooting in his car.
Contreras was arrested in West Virginia and brought back to Kentucky. The judge kept his bond at $7,500. He is due back in court on April 1st.
