New Circle Road Construction Causes Driver Headaches

New Circle Road is widening between Versailles and Leestown Roads.

The construction comes in the midst of work along Leestown Road and some drivers are sick of the road work already.

State Transportation Crews said some lanes of New Circle Road from Leestown to Versailles Roads will have to close.

That stretch will eventually be three lanes but until then, crews said to expect delays.

They said most construction will be finished next September but with work on Leestown Road already slowing traffic, drivers are ready for it to be over now.

“I try to go around it if I can but if you get caught in it, it can take you a half hour sometimes or longer,” said Doug Donaldson who lives in that area and drives along Leestown Road nearly every day.

Road crews said most of the work will be done overnight when there are fewer cars on the road but the speed limit has been lowered to 45 mph at all times.
