New changes coming to FCSB
Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Fayette Count School Board held a meeting on Thursday where the new Fayette County Board of Education District Three board member, Jason Moore, was expected to be sworn in.
However that will now be delayed.
“We will be swearing in Mr. Moore most likely at our January planning meeting,” said District 2 School Board Chair Tyler Murphy.
Murphy says the delay is due to them still getting through paperwork.
Some community members are concerned about Moore’s background as a Drug Enforcement Administration special agent and how that will corelate with education when he takes on his new role as a board member in January.
There have been many talks about the contract between Fayette County Public Schools and Lexington Fayette County Health Department nurses.
The board voted on whether to continue that contract during Thursday night’s meeting.
“We have provided that contract for one more extension to make it the final year while the administration works to look at other options that we may have throughout this year,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. “Then make a possible solution to the board at a later date.”
Murphy led the vote for the extension, which was unanimous.
“No questions on the Lexington Fayette County Health Department contract. All in favor say ‘aye’. Any opposed? Motion carries four to zero. Thank you.”
Murphy was not available for comment on the contract extension after the meeting.
