New center opens in Clay County to combat opioid epidemic
MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A new center, focused on serving women and children suffering the effects of the opioid and substance abuse, opened in Clay County Monday.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell joined the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Director Jim Carroll and other federal and state officials for the grand opening of the Volunteers of America Mid-States center.
Volunteers of America Mid-States operates multiple centers throughout the Commonwealth, serving women and children as well as veterans.
The facility in Clay County will provide residential services to mothers with children, as they work toward long-term recovery from substance abuse.
