Nearly 150 Participants Show Up for 5K Glow Run/Walk in Somerset

Organizers of the second annual Dollars for Scholars 5K Glow Run/Walk reported a record number of registered participants for the recent event, as 143 lined up to support the Rogers Scholars program.

The race, which was held Saturday at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, encouraged everyone involved to wear glow-in-the-dark costumes and outfits.

Lexington’s Joshua Nadzam was the top male finisher, shooting across the finish line with a time of 16:44:39.

Tabitha Bell, from Jamestown, was the overall female winner with a time of 22:43:37.

Nadzam and Bell both received trophies and $100 in cash in addition to their first-place recognition.

The proceeds raised from the event will support The Center’s Rogers Scholars youth leadership program for high school students in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
