NAACP calls for Lex. Cath. principal, president to resign
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington-Fayette chapter of the NAACP says it is calling for the resignation of principal Sally Stevens, and president Dr. Steve Angeluci, of Lexington Catholic High School.
This after accusations of two instances of racial bullying at the school. Most recently, officials at Lexington Catholic say they received a letter on Tuesday from Attorney Amos Jones, claiming that an African-American student has left the school after being assaulted several times.
In a separate incident occurring last week, a 17-year old white student was charged with terroristic threatening, after sending threatening text messages to an African-American student, including one threatening to “lynch” him. The two students reportedly involved were on the Lexington Catholic football team together. Amos Jones represents that student as well.
ABC 36 has reached out to President Angeluci, as well as the president of the NAACP for further comment.
