Murder charge after fatal crash in Washington Co.

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A driver has been charged with murder following a fatal crash in Washington Co.

State Police say 25-year-old Victor Mendoza ran a stop sign at the intersection of Bloomfield Road and KY 150 in Springfield, and drove into the path of an oncoming van.

The driver of the van then hit a Camry.  The van driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital, where the driver died, according to troopers.  The driver of the Camry was also taken to the hospital, and was treated and released.

Investigators say Mendoza and his passenger ran from the scene but were caught a short time later.  Police say Mendoza is being charged with murder, wanton endangerment, driving under the inlfuence and having an open alchol container in the car, among other charges.
