EPA called in following fire in Laurel County
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Laurel County fire crews responded to what investigators think was an illegal burn on Fariston Road on Monday.
Four units were initially dispatched to the 700 block on Fariston Road to the reported illegal burn.
Crews arrived to find a semi-tanker trailer, in the process of being cut up for scrap metal, with heavy fire and smoke.
An investigation revealed that the tanker previously contained liquid asphalt and the residue had ignited and caught fire.
London-Laurel County Division of Emergency Management, EPA, Kentucky Division of Water, and KSP Post 11 London were on scene during the incident.
One person was arrested and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center for drug-related charges.
