Mudslide Destroys Carroll Home, 2 Others Evacuated
A mudslide has destroyed an unoccupied home in Carroll County near state Route 36 between Carrollton and Milton.
Carroll County Emergency Management Agency Director Ed Webb said they are monitoring two other homes on the same hill. Webb said the residents at both homes have voluntarily evacuated.
Webb said experts from the Kentucky Geological Survey are on their way to the site. He hopes they will be able to tell him whether the hill is stable or whether a further slide can be expected.
The mudslide may have resulted from heavy rains that began overnight Thursday.
The rains continued into Friday, and the National Weather Service issued flood warnings for parts of western Kentucky with a flash flood watch in several eastern counties.
