Mudslide blocks road in Pike County

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A mudslide has completely blocked off a road in Pike County.

No traffic can get through Joe’s Creek at mile marker 6.7 at the Joe’s Creek Pay Lake.

Canada Maintenance Assistant Superintendent Shawn Mullins says they won’t be able to tell whether the hillside is stable until they remove the trees and mud that would block more material from coming down onto the road.

If the hillside is stable, Mullins estimates cleanup to be finished and have all material hauled away sometime mid-afternoon.

Residents and others who use this road will have to find an alternate route for the next several hours.
