Mt. Sterling PD: Suspects used social media to arrange robberies

MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Mount Sterling say four people have been arrested after a string of robberies where the suspects arranged to meet their victims through social media.

Police say 21-year-old Jonathan Garret (above, left,) 21-year-old Nathan Miller (center,) and 28-year-old Amber Duncan (right,) along with an unidentified juvenile, would set up a meeting through social media, rob the victim of money and other possessions, and then release them later, unharmed.

Officers say the group would threaten their victims with retaliation if they called law enforcement.

All three were charged with robbery and kidnapping.  Police say they expect additional charges to be filed against Garrett and Miller.

All were taken to the Montgomery Co. Detention Center.
