Motorcyclist dies in head on crash in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An Ohio man was killed Saturday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding crashed head on i9nto a pickup.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said 53-year-old Domonic Edward Sanchez, of Xenia, Ohio, was westbound on KY1376 approximately six miles north of London on a Harley Davidson when the bike collided with an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by 54-year-old Ronnie Davis, of Highway 490 in East Bernstad.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis fled but was located a short time later in London by an off duty Sheriff’s deputy with help from London City Police.

He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and first offense driving on DUI suspended license.

The accident happened at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies assisting for the Laurel County Sheriff’s office included: K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler, Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Brent France, Deputy Brian France, Deputy Greg Poynter. Deputy Brad Mink is the primary investigator/accident reconstructionist. Other agencies assisting included: East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue, London Laurel Rescue squad, Laurel County Coroner’s office, London City Police.
