Motorcyclist badly injured in crash that snarled rush hour traffic
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on a busy stretch of New Circle Road in Lexington that snarled rush hour traffic on Wednesday afternoon, according to Lexington Police.
Investigators say police received a report of a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on the outer loop of New Circle Road. Police say around 3:52 p.m., the motorcyclist went off New Circle Road and down an embankment between Georgetown Road and Leestown Road.
The victim’s name wasn’t released. Police say no other vehicles were involved.
The Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was called to the scene to investigate.
Both lanes of the outer loop of New Circle Road were closed near the accident scene, which led to big traffic backups.
All lanes were reopened by 6:00 p.m., according to police.
