Morehead’s Spradlin becomes youngest DI coach in country

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Morehead State University officially named its 14th head men’s basketball coach Tuesday.  Preston Spradlin is keeping the reins.

Spradlin stepped in last season in the interim following Sean Woods’ departure.

The former Betsy Layne, Alice Lloyd product and one-time UK staffer earned a four-year contract.  Nothing was given here by MSU to the youngest coach in NCAA division one hoops right now.

The Commonwealth’s own knows it.  It’s why Spradlin’s happy to have beaten out the best in a national search for the future of the Eagles program.

Spradlin’s focus has been on the team since day one.  Now, the one-time “fake head coach” as he dubbed himself to his players, who he honored and thanked in front of everyone during his biggest moment, is ready to continue moving MSU in the right direction.

Hear from Spradlin in the video.
