Morehead State faculty senate votes to censure president
MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) – The Morehead State University faculty senate has voted to censure President Wayne Andrews.
Faculty senate chairwoman Annie Adams tells the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1qZHNok) that the 23-11 vote on April 6 signaled the faculty’s dissatisfaction with a lack of faculty input on major decisions affecting the campus.
Since the vote, Adams says senate leadership has met with Andrews and planned future meetings with him and his administration.
On the night of the vote, Andrews said he was disappointed with the vote, but not surprised.
According to the American Association of University Professors, “censure” in academia means that academic freedom and other conditions are unsatisfactory.
Morehead’s state appropriation has declined $6.8 million since 2008. Enrollment has declined 4 percent in the last two years.
