Funeral arrangements made for Morehead man that was thrown from lawn mower
MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Funeral arrangements have been made for a Morehead man that died after being thrown off of his lawn mower into a pond.
According to the coroner, John Christy drowned after losing control of his lawn mower and was thrown into a pond on his farm.
Christy was the Assistant Pastor at The Church of Jesus Christ in Clearfield and was a lifelong farmer.
Before moving to Morehead, he was a tree surgeon for Christy Tree Service in California.
He enjoyed reading his Bible, being in the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family says “Jonny” or “Pap” died doing what he loved, taking care of his farm.
A family friend says he was a family man to the core and will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
He was 83 years old.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
Private graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jack Vernetter officiating.
