‘Moonshiners’ disinvited from Christmas parade

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — Two cast members from the reality television show "Moonshiners" have been disinvited from appearing in the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas parade.

The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1uez7aj) the Friday decision came only one day after the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association announced that Discovery Channel personalities Chico and Tyler would be part of the Nov. 22 parade.

Parade Chairman Adam Johnston said they cancelled the actors’ appearance after feedback from several dozen people who thought it would give the appearance of promoting an illegal activity.

Johnston said they weren’t promoting the duo’s way of life but instead representing "Kentucky’s rich history."

He said parade officials thought the popularity of the television show would bring more people downtown to see the parade. But he said the negative feedback convinced them to cancel.
