Montgomery County firefighter found dead after fighting Estill fire

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Montgomery County firefighter is dead after fighting a fire in Estill County, Friday night.

According to Montgomery County Fire/EMS, Captain Zach Clevenger responded to and worked a fire with Estill County Fire Department on the 4th. He was a volunteer there along with his duties in Montgomery County.

In a post on social media, his fellow Fire/EMS first responders indicated Clevenger got home from the Estill fire shortly before midnight but was found unconscious by his wife early Saturday morning. They say his wife tried to revive him but wasn’t successful.

The following is an excerpt from the post:

“Zach was 30 years old and a seven year member of Montgomery County Fire/EMS. He is survived by his loving wife Christina. Please keep Zach’s family, friends, co-workers, Estill County Fire Department and Montgomery County Fire/EMS in your thoughts as we struggle to deal with the grief.”

Details of the arrangements will be announced at a later date.
