Missing woman found in river

MCCREARY CO., Ky. (WTVQ) – The McCeary County Emergency Management Director announced today that the missing Owensboro woman has been found deceased.

At approximately 10 a.m., authorities say, 24-year-old Nina Parker was found in the water about 300 yards past Eagle Falls in Cumberland Falls State Park. McCeary County coroner says Parker will be removed from the water and transported to a safer area shortly, for further evaluation.

Nina Parker’s family has been told about what happened. Crews say the search will continue for a few more hours while they try to gather information about how this happened, since they don’t know how she got into the water, or how long she had been dead.

According to the crews searching, Parker had been visiting the falls with her boyfriend and son, who they say turned around for a second before she vanished.

The waters were treacherous, crews say, with unpredictable depth and ‘no swimming’ signs posted regularly. They say they don’t suspect foul play.
