Miss Kentucky Wins Preliminary Talent Competition At Miss America

Miss Kentucky, Ramsey Carpenter, won the preliminary talent competition with a fiddle performance Wednesday evening at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

She’s the first Miss Kentucky to win a preliminary talent competition at Miss America since 1998 when Chera-Lyn Cook of London took top honors.

Ramsey Carpenter, 23, of Hartford, is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education/LBD.

Ramsey’s platform issue is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, a condition which she was diagnosed with in 2010.

She was awarded the Heather French Henry Quality of Life Award at the Miss Kentucky Pageant for her outstanding work with her platform.
