Miss Kentucky wins Miss America business award

UNCASVILLE, Ct. (WTVQ)-Miss Kentucky, Alex Francke, competed Thursday night with 50 other contestants from across the country for the Miss America crown.

Francke didn’t take top prize, but she did win the Miss America Foundation’s Women in Business award this week, earning a $5,000 scholarship she says will help her become the CEO she aspires to be.

Francke is a 22-year-old UK graduate whose platform focused on bringing high quality arts education to Kentucky students.

Miss Virginia Victoria Schrier was crowned Miss America.

The Miss America competition usually takes place in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but this year it was held at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut as part of its Miss America 2.0 re-brand.
