The Miss Kentucky Experience
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It takes a lot of hard work and dedication when competing in a pageant. During pageant week, all 30 contestants biding for the Miss Kentucky crown, shed blood, sweat, and tears, but what people don’t realize is that the contestants do this all year long as local title holders. Every contestant has their own unique story and reasoning behind vying for the title.
Each of the girls are more than just rhinestones and lip gloss, they are hard working educated women, each competing for scholarship money. All of the contestants also has a personal platform that has brought them here.
For Cynthia Thomas, the competition is a way to stay focused and motivated. The Miss Kentucky organization has definitely been a growing experience for her, allowing her to really figured out who she was as a person.
It was a first time competing for contestant Rose Pidgorodetska. Rose was just 9-years-old when she was pronounced dead in a house fire. Now that near death experience is motivating her.
“It just reminds me that I am here for a purpose and a reason and it may be to be Miss Kentucky and if it’s not I am still going to be content in knowing that I still have a purpose in this life.”
