Mill & Max host show exhibiting work from local high school girls
Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — In honor of International Women’s Month, Mill & Max Gallery hosted Lexington’s International High School Girls Exhibit.
The art show featured work from high school girls from across Fayette County Public Schools.
Karl Lindstrom, with Mill and Max, says a teacher with the school system presented the idea of featuring student art work.
He also says they had fantastic showings and it was incredible to see the family and friends that came out to see the art.
Lindstrom spoke about why an exhibit like this is important.
“There are a number of exhibits and activities around town for Women’s History Month, but there’s not a lot talking about the really important time of age of being a young girl,” said Lindstrom. “What it’s like forming yourself as an adult, what your experiences are and an opportunity for the community to actually see the incredibly sophisticated ways these girls are thinking and expressing themselves.”
Lindstrom also says this is an example of the kind of exhibit you can experience at the Shambhala Meditation Center, which the gallery is located in.
