Military Missions needs addresses for deployed service members
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Non-profits are often in need of money or donations, but the group ‘Military Missions’ in Lexington is asking for something else.
It needs addresses to send care packages to service men and women who are deployed overseas.
Each package is stuffed with items that are donated. Many of the boxes include socks, food, letters, and candy.
For four years, Military Missions sent around 8,000 packages each year to service members in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Africa.
In 2019, the number dropped by a couple thousand because of a lack of contact information.
Military Missions is reaching out to Kentucky National Guard units to try to get more addresses. It’s also asking for the public’s help.
Volunteers say they could use 200-300 more addresses.
“They can send us an email, they can mail it to us, we’ll take an address any way we can get it,” said Mark Roland, Military Missions Board Member and Volunteer.
It can be anyone who’s serving in another country. Military Missions only need their name and address.
“You know that something you are doing is making someone feel better,” said Karen Weaver, Military Missions Board Member and Volunteer.
Volunteers add they’re always accepting donations.
If you want to give Military Missions an address, you can send them mail or an email.
