Mild mid-week leads to gusty winds and rain Thursday
Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast
Happy Tuesday! We are tracking beautiful conditions today after a cold start. Temperatures climb into the mid-to-upper 50s this afternoon after starting the day in the 20s. It will be even warmer on Wednesday, reaching the low 60s for most. Winds will increase Wednesday, with gusts upwards of 20-30 mph. This is ahead of next system set to sweep through the region on Thursday.
Gusty winds, rain, and a few storms lie ahead on Thursday. Wind gusts will increase Wednesday night, peaking at over 40 mph Thursday morning. A few showers will be possible late Wednesday into early Thursday as well. The bulk of the rain won’t fall until the second half of the day on Thursday.
Scattered-to-widespread rain showers and a few thunderstorms are likely Thursday afternoon and evening. As a frontal boundary passes Thursday night, the rain chances will exit to the east.
A few lingering showers are possible in eastern Kentucky early in the day on Friday but overall Friday will be a quiet day. There is a low chance of a few showers or a bit of a wintry mix Saturday as a weak system sweeps through the Ohio River Valley. Right now precipitation chances are low but this is still something we are tracking. Temperatures will be cooler Friday and Saturday, with highs struggling to reach the mid-40s on Saturday.
A fan of the mild temperatures? Don’t worry, we warm right back up next week. Above average temperatures are likely across the eastern US to end the month of February and start the month of March.
