Midway gets electric vehicle charging station

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Electric car drivers in Kentucky will have another place to power up.

Kentucky Utilities unveiled a new charging station for electric vehicles in Midway on Thursday.

The charging station is located at 101 East Main Street in the parking lot behind City Hall,

Kentucky Utilities says this charging station is the eighth of 20 public stations it and its sister utility, Louisville Gas and Electric Company, are installing across their service territories through their Electric Vehicle Charging Station Program.

There are two publicly-accessible charging stations in Lexington, one on Quality Street and the other on East High Street. Kentucky Utilities also operates those stations.

Electric vehicle drivers who use the charging stations will pay an hourly fee. Kentucky Utilities says while exact fees and taxes will vary depending on the location of each station, the average rate is about $3 per hour.
