Meth, marijuana arrest in London

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) -An investigation into a suspicious vehicle led to the arrest of a Lily man on multiple drug charges.

Police say they were called to the parking lot of the Sun Buffet restaurant beside HWY 192 on Friday just before 9:30 p.m.  When an officer approached the reported green van, he says the driver, 20-year-old Christopher E. Russell, told him he had been “smoking weed.”  Russell then gave the officer a small cellophane package, saying it was marijuana.  The officer says Russell also gave him a large glass pipe.  According to the officer, a further search of the van revealed a box containing a second glass pipe and a package containing white powder.  The officer says Russell confirmed the powder was methamphetamine.  Russell admitted to being high on both marijuana and meth, according to the officer.

Russell was arrested and charged with public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
