Menifee Sheriff warns residents of spoof calls

MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Menifee County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about spoofing calls.

There have been numerous complains about these calls that are telling residents that they won trips and prizes.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, one call shows up through caller ID as Menifee Elementary.

These calls are a prank or a scam.

Companies are able to make it appear that they are calling from a local number or anyone they choose through computer programs.

The phone company has no way to trace these calls.

The Sheriff says that you should never give out personal information to anyone who calls and says you’ve won something.

You are asked to inform friends and family to be aware of the spoofing and tell them not to give out personal information.
